MMK makes new automobile steels

Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) sheet-rolling shop recently manufactured a pilot batch of cold-rolled products made of rephosphorized steel; this batch has already been shipped to the customer, AvtoVAZ. MMK PR Department reports RS steel contains up to .12% of phosphorus, which, in combination with a number of other chemical compounds, helps get very durable, yielding, and stretchable kinds of steel that are corrosion-resistant and have outstanding welding properties. Russian ATMs trouble-free, Koltso Urala claims

Chair of Bank VEFK Ural detained until February 28

The detention of Bank VEFK Ural’s former Chair Olga Chechushkova has been extended until February 28, 2010. The decision was taken by the court after the investigative authorities had placed an application to this extent. Olga Chechushkova was arrested and placed in a detention ward at the beginning of July 2009. She is suspected of abuse of power as stated in Article 201 (part 1) of the Russian Federation Criminal Code.
