UC RUSAL gets OHSAS 18001 certificate

United Company RUSAL underwent all the testing procedures successfully and was given OHSAS 18001, the international certificate that proves the company’s health and safety management system’s compliance with the international regulations, UC RUSAL’s press officer said to UrBC.

The certificate was issued by the Norwegian Det Norske Veritas (DNV). UC RUSAL believes getting this certificate can be seen as the final step in their integrated management system program. The system now meets all of the ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 requirements and is applied in the enterprise’s aluminum plants based in Bratsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novokuznetsk, and Sayanogorsk, and will soon be employed in the company’s other plants.

UC RUSAL’s Aluminum Division received its ISO 9001 certificate in 2006, and ISO 14001 environmental management certificate in August 2007. All this proves that the Division pays great attention to identification, evaluation, and prevention of risks in the quality, environment, labor protection, and industrial safety production aspects.

‘UC RUSAL’s integrated management system gives the Aluminum Division some background for ongoing improvements and sustainable development as well as provides for better customer service standards and stricter compliance with the contractual obligations. What is more, certification is good for improving on our employees and contractors’ working conditions; it also helps to do less harm to the environment,’ says UC RUSAL’s Aluminum Division’s Director Viktor Zhirnakov.
