Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant’s 10,000,000th ton of pipe goods was produced at the company’s first pipe-rolling shop recently; it took the enterprise 71 years to reach this figure after the pipe-forming machine was first launched.

The spokesperson for Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant (part of ChTPZ Group) says their pipe-rolling mill 220 is unique in that while its design and the technology it uses are not very complicated, the mill is capable of producing the plant’s widest range of weldless hot-rolled pipes (with the diameter ranging from 114 to 219 millimeters) from different kinds of steel. The mill’s production capacity comes to 250,000 tons of pipes and tubes a year on average.

‘Our pipe-rolling shop has been on ChTPZ’s kaizen program since May 2001; this program is expected to make our plant more competitive through improving on the production standards and developing a strategy for ongoing improvements. Our experts’ main challenge is elaborating and introducing proposals for improving our employees’ working conditions and for process optimization,’ the spokesperson for the plant says.

So far, a number of our kaizen team proposals aimed at enhancing the productivity of pipe-rolling mill 220 have already been approved of by the management and are soon to be implemented.
