Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Petr Sumin allotted 600 million RUR to be spent on public vehicles, since the region’s transportation businesses kept sending in their applications for vehicle replacement. This money is meant for Chelyabinsk Region’s two largest cities, namely, Chelyabinsk and Magnitogorsk. The former was given 400 million RUR, so the city council has already conducted a number of tenders among bus suppliers. As a result, seventy-two modern buses produced by Neftekamsk car factory are expected to arrive in Chelyabinsk before the end of the year. Besides, tenders for trolley-bus and intercity bus suppliers are to be held in the near future.
As for Magnitogorsk, the town will use its 200 million RUR to buy seventy LiAz buses and five Icarus ones that will be used on both the inner city and suburban roads, with thirteen additional buses meant for suburban and intercity routes, the spokesperson for the Governor reports.
