A new aluminum can factory is to be put up in Ishalino, Argayashsk district, for Rexam, the British can manufacturer, the spokesperson for Chelyabinsk Region Ministry of Economic Development reports. The solemn ceremony devoted to the beginning of construction scheduled for April 4, 2007 was attended by First Deputy Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Vladimir Dyatlov, Minister of Economic Development Yuri Klepov, head of Argayashsk municipality Israfil Valishin, Rexam management and some of the company’s major partners (representatives of Baltika, Efes, and some others).

Mr. Klepov says the plant will be built from scratch and is estimated to require over $70m worth of investments, creating 100 new jobs and producing 800m cans a year (these will include both .33-liter and .5-liter cans). The new facility is expected to be launched at the beginning of 2008.

Rexam declared it was going to put up a factory in Argayashsk district as recently as last August, and it has already been able to set to work. This (almost instantaneous) transfer from planning to building was made possible due to the regional government’s support.
