Federal Antimonopoly Service in Sverdlovsk Region received a payment order which states that Heineken Commercial Service based in Saint-Petersburg paid their fine, reports the spokesperson for Federal Antimonopoly Service. The antimonopoly authority had earlier declared Heineken was violating the advertising law and imposed a 40,000 RUR fine.
The suit was initially filed against the company based on complaints placed by Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage in Ural Federal District. Heineken Commercial Service placed neon signs saying ‘Heineken’ and ‘Guinness’ on the façade of Bolshoi Ural Hotel (a federally important architectural exhibit). The investigation conducted by Federal Antimonopoly Service in Sverdlovsk Region revealed that the advertising was never accompanied by any health warning and was located within less than 100 meters of a medical facility in one case. Thus the antimonopoly authority instituted administrative proceedings against the beer company, and the latter paid the fine.
