Ropes replaced at Magnetitovaya mine of Vysokogorskiy Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise

28 November 2006 (12:52)

The main rope supporting the skip of Magnetitovaya-bis groove was replaced at Magnetitovaya mine of Vysokogorskiy Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise (part of Evraz Group). The rope is generally used for transferring ore from the mine onto the surface; such replacements take place every three years and are very labour consuming.

The length of the rope comes to over 900 meters, and it is always tested very thoroughly at the rope-testing station of Vysokogorskiy Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise: every wire that is used in the rope is obligatorily examined. The device can actually be used only after a special certificate testifying that the condition of the rope fully complies with the unified safety requirements has been issued. Prior to the rope installation, it gets treated with steam and kerosene.

The replacement of the rope took three days, with ore transferred with the help of another groove for the time being, says the spokesperson for Vysokogorskiy Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise.
