Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan attend presentation of Russian Copper Company

Russian Copper Company participated in the forum of bordering regions of Russia and Kazakhstan on October 2-3, 2006. The forum took place in Uralsk (Kazakshtan) and was devoted to the possible areas of cooperation, resulting in a number of important agreements on further development of bilateral cooperation.

Russian Copper Company presented its Kazakhstan-based project, Aktybinsk Copper Company, and this presentation was attended by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev, who had a chance to look at the range of products offered by the company. Mr Putin paid great attention to all the details concerning the project development.

The processing plant of Aktybinsk Copper Company started operating on September 7, 2006 with the solemn opening ceremony; the ore mining and processing enterprise includes an open-cast mine, a processing plant dealing in ore concentrate, and a plant dealing in cube-shaped macadam made from the overburden. The enterprise uses equipment made by Outokumpu (Finland), Dobersek (Germany), Warman (Great Britain), Caterpiller SARL (Switzerland and the USA) и Terex Company GmBH (Germany, the USA, Great Britain), and Sandvik (Sweden) and is capable of producing 2.5m tons of ore annually.

Russian Copper Company is to invest some $440m in the development of deposits located in Kazakhstan, reports their spokesperson.
