Tashtagolskiy subsidiary of Russian ore maker test magnetic separation systems
1 September 2006 (12:54)
Tashtagolskiy subsidiary of Evrazruda JSC (ore maker and part of Evraz Group) has been testing its new magnetic separation systems. The experts from the company’s Central Technological Laboratory and the subsidiary itself are selecting samples of original ore, ore concentrate and final tailings that are then tested and thus make it possible to decide on the best way of ore processing.
Fitting the separators with the new magnetic systems is being done within the framework of the corporate modernization program. Four of the subsidiary’s ten separators have already had these systems installed, and the whole project will have been completed by November 2006.
Replacing the old systems with the new high magnetic-field strength ones will allow the company to impressively raise the amount of iron they extract when processing ore and reduce the loss of iron in the final tailings.
Evrazruda is planning on replacing 47 separators in most of its subsidiaries altogether, reports their spokesperson.
