Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Eduard Rossel met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Russia Per Karlsen in the government house today.

Mr Rossel spoke on the growth in the fields of regional industry, wholesale and retail trade, and agriculture throughout the year. He also mentioned the ongoing renovation of the regional metallurgical, power engineering, and machine building enterprises. According to the Governor, the investments in Sverdlovsk Region businesses went up by 28% compared to 2005 and will have come to $5bn by the end of the year.

A large Danish enterprise decided to set up a pig farm fit for 210,000 livestock units and a meatpacking plant in the Mid-Urals. The construction will probably begin next year. In the meantime, the regional-Danish trade turnover has already doubled this year.

According to Mr Karlsen, his visit has to do with the prospective introduction of a Danish trade mission in Sverdlovsk Region. All the papers have already been drawn up and approved of by the Russian foreign service, reports the spokesperson for the Governor.
