New cold saw put into operation at Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhniy Tagil

21 April 2006 (11:58)

On April 20, 2006, a new cold saw was put into operation at Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhniy Tagil JSC (part of Evraz Group). The saw is meant for cutting railroad wheel ingots, and it’s the seventh one so far installed at the complex.

According to the company’s spokesperson, the lock, stock and barrel assembling and installation agreement had been signed with MFL of Austria. The new saw is particularly productive (up to 100,000 ingots a year). It also exposes higher precision, is more compact and fully automated. Its produce is in full compliance with the demands that the ingots produced at the modern press-rolling production line (put into operation in December 2004) must meet. The installation process began in 2005, and the assembling was fully completed in February 2006. The starting-up and adjustment and testing took 6 weeks.
