10 March 2006 (11:42)

S.M. Kirov Ust Katav Carriage Making Works (Chelyabinsk Region) produced the experimental version of 71-630 trams.

According to Deputy GD Viktor Krasavin, the tram will be tested on rail in May or June 2006, then it’ll be re-examined and run in.

‘When assembling the tram, we were using, mostly, foreign parts; this is to be a large three-section carriage fit for 250 people,’ Mr Krasavin said.

As for the supplies, the plant is thinking mainly of Moscow consumers as the capital’s Government has promised to buy 50 trams should the model withstand all the testing.

Developing the tram cost the company close to 30 million RUR, and the price will depend on the scale of supply.
