Sverdlovsk Region subsidiary of Russian Post sums up its achievements in 2005
20 February 2006 (12:56)
Deputy Head of Sverdlovsk Region Government and Minister of Industry, Power Engineering and Science Vladimir Molchanov met Deputy GD of Russian Post Gennadiy Kotov and Director of Sverdlovsk Region subsidiary Dmitriy Varchak on February 17, 2006. The meeting was aimed at summing up the subsidiary’s achievements in 2005.
According to Mr Varchak, the year proved to be quite a successful one. The year 2006 is going to be devoted to further improvement of the profitability and economic success of the regional post office, some new services will be offered, too. For instance, some more public Internet access facilities will be introduced. Within the next five years, over the half of the company’s cars will be replaced by the newer models, 90% of the points of sale will be replaced as well.
According to Mr Kotov, Russian Post will maintain its subsidiaries in the far-off districts, as they are vital to local residents’ communication.
In Mr Molchanov’s view, airmail service should be developed in order to increase the post efficiency. After Russian Ministry of Transport declared that Koltsovo airport of Yekaterinburg would be made into an international hub, the airport has been undergoing a series of renovations. Thus, a new international terminal has already been introduced; the runway is also being overhauled. A large freight terminal with the area of 100,000 square meters is now number one on the airport project list.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to locate the airmail division in the new airport
