UrBC, Chelyabinsk, April 9, 2020. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) directed RUB 117 million to sports and healthcare programs (including the upkeep of Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Sports Club) last year. MMK Group spent around RUB 130 million on such projects in 2019 altogether, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

Russia’s largest metallurgical enterprise pays special attention to sports, physical culture, and promotion of a healthier lifestyle, so MMK sees encouraging its workers to do sports on a regular basis as one of its CSR priorities.

‘Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Sports Club, a private extracurricular establishment, plays a key role in MMK’s sports program. The club operates an extensive sports facilities infrastructure, including a track-and-field facility with a climbing wall, a ping pong room, a multimedia-equipped pistol range, a sand floor gym, a rowing club, beach football and volleyball pitches, a mini golf outlet, a paint-ball range, a skiing slope for beginners and a full-range piste, a car-racing track, and a go-cart racing center. In 2018, a Ready for Labour and Defense testing center opened at the club as well, which means we are certified to coordinate these tests for all age groups and in all sports categories within the all-Russian Ready for Labour and Defense Sports Training Program,’ MMK’s press service says.
