UrBC, Magnitogorsk, March 18, 2020. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) supplied more than 650,000,000 kg of metal goods to customers in the automobile industry last year, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

‘MMK’s annual sales to carmakers have broken a record for the second time in a row: in 2017, the plant sold 565,000,000 kg of metal produce to car manufacturers, and in 2018, the figure came to as much as 598,000,000 kg. In 2019, the company’s efforts to increase sales to carmakers and spare parts manufacturers resulted in more than 650,000,000 kg of produce getting sold, including the 605,000,000 kg supplied to Russia-based car factories (up 8% on the year 2018) and the 53,000,000 kg supplied to customers in the CIS member states (up 37% on the year 2018). All in all, 7.3% of MMK’s overall Russian market sales are sales to car manufacturers,’ the company says.

According to MMK representatives, liaising with the automobile industry is one of their top production/sales priorities. The plant keeps working on its No.1 Home Market Supplier for The Most Demanding Customers in The Car-Making Industry Initiative and has been providing a quality alternative to imported automobile body sheets for quite a few years now. MMK is currently the leading ferrous metal goods supplier for carmakers and related industries. The company’s share of total rolled metal goods sales to Russia-based car factories last year is estimated at over 50%.
