UrBC, Magnitogorsk, February 19, 2020. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) keeps offering guided tours of the company’s production site to all kinds of visitors. So far, over 10,000 people have come to look at the site, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
‘MMK was open to visitors before as well: colleagues and partners - customers, equipment and raw materials suppliers, and other metallurgical companies’ representatives - came to one of Russia’s leading metallurgical enterprises all the time. Young residents of Magnitogorsk could also see the legend of Russian metallurgical industry during the children’s tours that were part of the early job counseling program,’ the company says.
According to MMK representatives, the updated Steel Route Program now offers a better way of interacting with visitors to the plant. Both children and adults can now choose among four specially designed guided tours: Fire-Taming, Steel Evolution, Dad’s Workplace, and A Visit to Metallurgists. Visitors on the guided tours can look at the scale of the company’s production and learn about metallurgical processes, MMK’s history, and the plant’s achievements and prospects. For one, they go to the company museum, Russia’s largest blast-furnace department, and one of the world’s most powerful and unique rolling facilities that is heavy-plate Mill 5000.
