Egypt: Sharm El Sheikh to Assign Russian Fliers Special Gate, Check-In
27 January 2020 (09:14)
UrBC, Moscow, January 27, 2020. Egypt might soon assign a special gate and check-in desks for Russian tourists flying from Sharm El Sheikh; this is already the case in Cairo International Airport, where the exclusive gate has been around for two years now, RIA Novosti refers to its own source as stating.
Now Russian air travel security experts completed their scheduled checks of Sharm El Sheikh Airport and Hurghada Airport on Thursday.
‘The experts were shown separate, fenced-in gates that are expected to get assigned exclusively for passengers arriving from Russia, as well as separate check-in desks,’ the source said.
Russia-Egypt air travel was put on hold in November 2015 following the Russian airline crashing above the Sinai Peninsula. Scheduled Moscow-Cairo flights resumed in April 2018. There are still no chartered flights to the Red Sea resorts available at the moment.
