MegaFon Launches FVNO

22 January 2020 (09:09)

UrBC, Moscow, January 21, 2020. MegaFon is launching its first FVNO (Fixed Virtual Network Operator) project involving local ISPs. The broadband Internet access FVNO model is meant to complement the telecom company’s existing infrastructure, MegaFon’s press service reports.

The business model includes MegaFon paying its partner operator for every connection on a monthly basis, which means the local ISPs will be able to monetize their existing but underused port capacity 30% to 50% more efficiently. MegaFon will take care of the advertising, payment processing, customer service (both through customers’ online accounts and at MegaFon’s offline stores), and sales of MegaFon-branded Wi FI routers and media receivers.

‘The company’s FVNO project will allow MegaFon to take its convergent product options to new markets in new parts of the country. Our model is 100% transparent for both the local partner operators and the customers, who will be able to pay for a whole range of services using a single customer account. Landing agreements with several broadband ISPs is at the final stage at the moment, and we are also open to more new partnerships in different parts of Russia,’ says Director-General at Net By Net Holding Andrei Batanov.
