UrBC, Magnitogorsk, December 24, 2019. G.I. Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University (MSTU), which is the primary source of engineering workers for Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK), and the National University of Science and Technology MISiS are going to design a metallurgical training program together, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

‘In 2019, Russia’s Higher Education & Science Ministry suggested coordinating a contest involving Russian colleges outside of Moscow and Saint Petersburg to design advanced higher education programs together with the Russian universities from the global Top 200 list. Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) acted as the contest operator,’ MMK says.

Thirty colleges, including G.I. Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University, got selected in the course of the contest procedure. MSTU will receive funding to develop and implement its own training program in Metallurgy. The National University of Science and Technology MISiS (Russia’s No.1 university for the year 2019 according to Forbes Russia and one of the Top 100 in QS Worlds University Ranking in Materials Science) will act as the leading university for the program implementation. Besides, experts from MSTU’s strategic industrial partner Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works will also contribute to the program design.

G.I. Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University will receive RUB 10m to design and implement an advanced higher education training program with support from MISiS teaching staff and researchers. The funds will also be used to purchase the necessary equipment.
