Alexander Vysokinsky: Yekaterinburg Metro to Keep Expanding
23 December 2019 (09:09)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 23, 2019. Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent statement regarding the need for Yekaterinburg Metro to keep expanding.
‘The town council confirmed its total commitment to the project. We keep working on project design and a presentation to secure co-funding from the higher-level authorities, since Sverdlovsk Region’s budget and Yekaterinburg’s budget alone won’t be able to foot the bill on their own. Most of the locals feel positive about the prospect and believe Yekaterinburg Metro is vital for the city,’ the Mayor said.
Alexander Vysokinsky also stressed that the construction of a new line is still seen as one of the most important projects to complete in time for Yekaterinburg’s 300-year anniversary, the town council’s website says.
Now the Mayor signed an executive order on getting the layout and boundary-setting plans for the new, second line of Yekaterinburg Metro ready. The line in question will connect Yantarnaya Station and Kamennye Palatki Station, with a depot next to Lake Maly Shartash.
