UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 18, 2019. Managing Director at EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ NTMK) Alexei Kushnarev and Danieli Group signed a contract for the reconstruction of the former’s Rail & Beam Department. The Group is expected to supply €80m worth of tech equipment to NTMK, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center reports.
‘Retooling the department will mean we’ll be able to expand our mill produce range and start making new types of rolled metal goods. The department will start manufacturing U-shaped sheet piles (up to 600 mm wide), H-beams (130 mm to 600 mm high and up to 300 mm wide), EU-standard rails (up to 25m long), crane rails, and asymmetrical L-shaped bulb bars (270 mm to 600 mm high),’ the company says.
All the upgrades are expected to get completed in 2022. The department’s production capacity will rise from 800,000,000 kg to 950,000,000 kg of rolled metal goods a year. The rolling unit will extend to 108 meters all in all.
‘Once the reconstruction has been completed, we’ll be able to make an extra 280,000,000 kg of beams and 50,000,000 kg of sheet piles. This is the kind of rolled metal produce that enjoys good market demand at the moment, and the plant’s market position will ensure good sales,’ says Alexei Kushnarev.
The tech equipment and automation appliances will be made by Danieli and assembled at the plant under the Italian company’s experts’ supervision.
