UrBC, Magnitogorsk, December 12, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) and Ausferr Tech & Research Center won the annual ComNews Awards in Best Industrial Solution/Best IT Project in Metallurgical Sector, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

‘The award went to the two companies’ joint project on an information system that is meant to help manage technologies and product quality at an end-to-end cycle metallurgical enterprise. Starting as early as the nineties, MMK has kept working on production process automation and metallurgical appliances upgrades as well as on complex solutions for making steel rolled products with a guaranteed high end-user performance. Integrating a range of custom-designed IT solutions into the company’s corporate information system for managing technologies and produce quality has meant MMK was able to evolve towards highly efficient digital production technologies. This, in its turn, resulted in a wider product range and growing sales of new-generation rolled steel products with a guaranteed set of certain physical and mechanical properties to the largest customers in the Russian industrial sector,’ MMK says.

The awarding ceremony for the 8th annual ComNews Awards took place during the final session of Smart City & Region: Digital Technologies on The Way to Smart Country Forum in Moscow. The winning projects got selected based on the following criteria: scalability, complexity, transparency, efficiency, the innovative component, and the project’s importance for cities and industrial branches.
