UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 18, 2019. More than three hundred tax crimes have been registered in Ural Federal District since the start of the year, Russia’s Deputy Prosecutor-General Yuri Gulyagin announced at the recent meeting of the interdepartmental work team under Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District.

‘Yuri Gulyagin spoke about the problems related to preventing tax crime in the Urals. He commented on the law enforcement agencies’ considerable efforts in the field and said over three hundred tax crimes had been detected in Ural Federal District in the nine months of 2019. A number of crimes, including those to do with setting up businesses with stand-ins at the top, unlawful use of documentation to register a business, and misrepresenting a company’s tax base, were uncovered through public prosecution authorities’ checks,’ the Russian Federation Prosecutor-General's Office’s Ural Federal District’s press service says.

Yuri Gulyagin also stressed that the law enforcement agencies needed to work much more actively on tax crime detection and to attend to their existing problems and drawbacks.
