UrBC, Magnitogorsk, November 15, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won the Event of The Year in Russia’s Metallurgical Industry Award for building its new Sintering Plant 5, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
The awarding ceremony took place during the opening of Metal Expo 2019 International Industrial Exhibition in Moscow. The winners received honorary certificates and symbolic trophies - figurines of metallurgical workers.
According to MMK representatives, Russia’s most up-to-date sintering plant, which is MMK’s Sintering Plant 5, was launched in July 2019. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the opening ceremony. The plant’s maximum production capacity comes to 5,500,000,000 kg of high quality sintered ore a year. The plant has nineteen highly efficient environmental facilities.
‘The new plant will reduce our negative environmental impact greatly. The launch of the sintering plant ensures a dramatic increase in environmental safety as well. This is part of MMK’s large-scale investment strategy that involves radical production upgrades at first-level processing facilities,’ says Chair of the BOD at MMK Viktor Rashnikov.
The Event of The Year in Russia’s Metallurgical Industry Award was established by the Metal Expo 2019 International Industrial Exhibition’s coordination committee in 2011.
