Yekaterinburg to Ask for Federal Funding for Underground

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 11, 2019. Next year, Yekaterinburg Council intends to apply to the Russian Federation Government for the funding to cover the construction of the second line of Yekaterinburg Underground, Mayor Alexander Vysokinsky said today during the commissioning and acceptance ceremony for the new, upgraded railcars for the existing underground line.
‘We plan to get the updated feasibility study to start working on the line next year. We call this an audit for the second underground line construction project. The project will be presented to the federal-level authorities in the second half of 2020,’ the Mayor said.
Now public discussions on the city’s general development program for 2020-2023 are in progress at the moment. Under the terms of this program, the second line of Yekaterinburg Underground is expected to connect VIZ and ZhBI by 2025. The costs are estimated at RUB 60-70bn.
