Yekaterinburg to Host Russian Cities 2020 on November 13-14

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 11, 2019. The 4th nationwide Russian Cities 2020: Project Territory Forum will take place in Yekaterinburg on November 13-14.

According to the city council’s press service, the forum will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 8 Boris Yeltsin St.

This year, the event will begin with an open session of Local Government Issues Council under Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District. The points on the session agenda include national projects, digital economy, Smart City technologies, and the legal basis and practices of merging municipalities. Governors of Ural Federal District constituencies and mayors of the largest Ural cities will all attend the Council meeting.

The open session will be followed by a number of sectional meetings with the Federation Council officials, Russian State Duma deputies, Russian ministries officials, members of Sverdlovsk Region Government and Yekaterinburg council, representatives of other local town councils, and researchers from leading R&D centers, the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Ural branch, and local universities, as well as heads of large industrial enterprises.

A special emphasis will be made on Yekaterinburg’s large infrastructure projects, urban transit system improvements (Russia’s leading public transport expert Mikhail Blinkin is expected to attend one of the sections), strategic development of urban environments, and the part large-scale national and international events play in a city’s development (Krasnoyarsk Council officials are going to contribute to this portion of the discussion). Finally, there will be a special IQ Lab designed to meet the town council’s needs.
