1 November 2019 (09:09)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 1, 2019. ChelPipe Group took part in the 8th International GTS 2019 Conference this month, the company’s press service reports.

ChelPipe Group presented its own developments in the field of pipe manufacturing that are used for pipelines operated in complicated environments.

‘The Group’s representatives gave a talk on the company’s own multiple-pass welding technology, developed within the framework of the Nord Stream 2 Project. The technology is unique in that a specific type of arc welding is used to make the pipe weld highly durable and to make the pipes resistant to temperatures as low as 48 degrees centigrade below zero. The speakers also talked about their system of two-tier nondestructive testing of the welded joints (ultrasound and X-ray scans) which improves the end product quality,’ the press service says.

‘Gazprom and ChelPipe Group have been working on major infrastructure projects in Russia and abroad for many years now; these projects require close research and tech cooperation. Thanks to this cooperation, the Group keeps improving its technologies and masters new product types that meet our key customer’s demands and comply with the strictest international requirements and standards,’ says Tech Director at ChelPipe Group Kirill Nikitin.

The International GTS Conference is a biennial event that was first coordinated fourteen years ago. This is the fourth time ChelPipe Group has taken part in the conference. The forum gets coordinated by Gazprom and Gazprom VNIIGAZ Research Center.
