UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 16, 2019. Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky invited representatives of Sverdlovsk Region’s five administrative districts, mayors of all the local cities and towns (more than sixty people all in all), mayors of thirteen cities with population over 1m people, and rectors of 10+ colleges to celebrate UN Habitat’s World Cities Day, the town council’s website states.

‘We find it important to host this international event on an impressive scale so as to present Yekaterinburg nicely. This is expected to contribute to next year’s 100+ Forum Russia in Yekaterinburg. I firmly believe the city will prove worthy of the great trust the United Nations and the Russian Government placed with it, and will coordinate the grand international event well,’ Vysokinsky said.

The global forum will get held in Yekaterinburg at the same time as 100+ Forum Russia on October 30-31, 2019. The event will get attended by town mayors and state governors from a variety of different countries, heads of international organizations, and UN officials. This year’s theme is Better City, Better Life, with a focus on innovations and a better life for the future generations.

Some thirty speakers and 300 participants are expected to come, including delegates from Russia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Malaysia, Kenya, Spain, China, Iran, Japan, Australia, and other countries. The People’s Republic of China’s delegation will present China’s best construction projects and projects that meet the UN sustainable development standards.
