19 September 2019 (09:17)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 19, 2019. Yekaterinburg Council presented its plan to build schools in the newest parts of the city. Twelve secondary schools are being designed and put up at the moment, and the goal, as defined by Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexander Vysokinsky, is to have more than twenty of them ready by 2025.

The schools will first appear in the parts of Yekaterinburg that are facing the worst shortage, including the newly built residential areas. Chair of Yekaterinburg Council Building Committee Nikolai Smetanin, Head of Production/Tech Department at the Capital Construction Administration Alexander Bochkarev, and Yekaterinburg Duma deputies Elena Bondarenko, Sergey Voronin, and Alexei Mescheryakov all went to see these parts of the city as part of the project presentation. The officials inspected three schools (in various construction stages) in Solnechny (Chempionov St), Akademicheskiy (Quarter 26), and at 22 Krasnolesye St.

Next year, the schools in Akademicheskiy (big enough for 1,200 students) and Solnechny (big enough for 1,000 students) will get commissioned before the academic year begins. The school in Akademik Sakharov Ave in District Akademicheskiy is getting put up fast enough, with builders arriving at the construction site in January 2019 and competing all the jobs by 70% by now. In Solnechny, a large sports cluster with a jogging track, a volleyball/basketball-playing area, a workout site, and an assault course (for military training classes) has been designed next to the school premises. Besides, one of the two school gyms will have a climbing wall. Additionally, an extension (big enough for 600 students) that got started upon in July will get added to School 181 at 22 Krasnolesye St by the end of next year.
