UrBC, Magnitogorsk, September 10, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) purchased a number of apartments to provide housing for the staff of Central Clinical Primary Healthcare Unit; the keys were handed over to the doctors in the course of a special ceremony, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.
The solemn ceremony was attended by MMK Director-General and Board Member at Central Clinical Primary Healthcare Unit Pavel Shilyayev and Director at Central Clinical Primary Healthcare Unit Alexei Kovalenko. The company bought the apartments as part of MMK’s social welfare program meant to support the healthcare unit, help implement the plant’s healthcare projects, and provide incentives for the medical professionals to work in the local healthcare sector. MMK directed RUB 6.3m for the purchase and remodeling of the apartments.
Doctors at Central Clinical Primary Healthcare Unit can now live in their new homes (two studio apartments and two two-bedroom ones) rent-free. After they have worked for the unit for ten years, they will be able to put their names on the title and own the property.
‘Implementing our healthcare programs and supporting Magnitogorsk’s healthcare system are the two key aspects of MMK’s social welfare policy. The company sees its employees at its most valuable asset, so special attention is paid to the health of MMK workers and their families. We keep working on this in close cooperation with Central Clinical Primary Healthcare Unit; it is in our interests to have highly skilled doctors come to work in Magnitogorsk and stay there. Doctor retention is thus one of the primary components of our strategic initiative on healthcare support,’ Shilyayev said.
