Sverdlovsk Region Gets MegaFon’s Smart Bus Stops
15 July 2019 (10:12)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 15, 2019. MegaFon and Nizhnyaya Tura Council started working on digitizing the town’s urban transit infrastructure together: there are now sixteen ‘smart bus/tram stops’ in Nizhnyaya Tura, the telecom company’s press service reports.
‘The old bus stops have been replaced with modern ones, complete with security appliances and telecom services. While waiting for your bus to arrive, you can now use the free wireless connection or charge your mobile device using one of the USB chargers provided. MegaFon’s SmartStops can be found in Govorov St, Novaya St, Malyshev St, Dekabristov St, Ilyicha St, Usoshin St, 40 Let Oktyabra St, and Lenin St,’ the press service says.
‘We announced at last year’s Innoprom Exhibition that SmartCity digital solutions would get introduced within the city. A year later, we’ve got both a specific proposal and the digital project itself in the last stages of its realization. Thanks to our partnership with MegaFon, Nizhnyaya Tura is getting ever closer to the SmartCity standards. Once the bus stop transformation has been completed, we’ll move on to urban infrastructure improvements to ensure more comfort to the town residents,’ MegaFon’s press service quotes Mayor of Nizhnyaya Tura Alexei Stasenok as saying.
The two parties signed a contract for the customer to pay for the new stops within a several-year lease.
‘This financing format is the one that suits smaller towns’ digitization projects best,’ the press service explains.
