MegaFon Launches Parcel Delivery Service in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk

UrBC, Moscow, June 27, 2019. MegaFon is now getting postal terminals and online store pick-up points installed at its retail outlets. Customers based in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk will be the first to have the opportunity of picking up their parcels at MegaFon stores, the telecom company’s press service reports.
PickPoint terminal chain will act as one of MegaFon’s partners in the project, providing up to 7,500 retail stores and market places (including AliExpress) with access to pick-up points at MegaFon’s stores.
MegaFon intends to launch the terminals at all of its flagship stores throughout the country before the end of the year. The idea is for the parcels to get dispatched by the store personnel.
This is seen as a multistage project, with a gradual increase in the range of services available with the pick-up (cash and cashless payments, partial delivery/dispatch, product return).
‘We run several outlets in the Urals that are all located very close to where people live. These outlets could prove very convenient pick-up points, since quite a few customers would prefer to fetch their long-awaited parcels at MegaFon stores on their way home rather than wait for the courier delivery,’ says Director at MegaFon Retail Ural Alexei Bykov.
The final number of stores that will offer the pick-up service will depend on the outcome of the pilot stage of the project. The telecom company might potentially operate up to 10% of all the terminals in the country, experts believe.
