UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 16, 2019. The Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development’s customers spent money in eighty-four different countries during May break, the bank’s press service reports.
‘Europe proved by far the most popular travel destination, with UBRD customers checking in in forty different countries in the Old World. Australia and Oceania were the most exotic destinations our customers traveled to, whilst the countries in Western Asia were the ones where our customers spent the most,’ the press service says.
According to the bank’s data, the most customer money got spent in the United Arab Emirates on May 1-12: the UBRD’s cardholders spent RUB 7.1 mullion there (average transaction amount: RUB 11,500). Turkey comes next (RUB 4 million on May 1-12), followed by Great Britain (RUB 3.3 million), Cyprus (RUB 3.1 million), and the United States (RUB 2.7 million).
‘The research findings proved pleasantly surprising: people used their credit cards for more than 50% of card transactions. Our customers obviously grew aware of all the benefits a credit card has to offer and are now using it both in everyday situations and when traveling. A credit card is, indeed, very convenient: you can pay for your shopping here and now and not worry about the interest rate for the next 120 days. Besides, card are very safe to use, especially now that our customers can also have them insured against fraud. This means you can enjoy your trip without worrying over all kinds of ‘what ifs’,’ says URBD Marketing Director Alexei Merzlyakov.
The UBRD’s customers spent RUB 43 million abroad during this May break (total number of transactions: 14,000).
