16 April 2019 (09:11)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 16, 2019. EVRAZ Holding is coordinating its annual Safety Week on April 15-21 (around International Workers' Memorial Day), the company’s press service reports.

‘All of the workers at EVRAZ Holding’s Ural and Siberian member enterprises will get reminded once again of how crucial it is to follow the instructions and to stay put and be careful at work. The job safety and industrial safety champions will get awarded. The employees who managed to make the plant’s working conditions safer and to enhance the industrial safety on site last year will receive thank-you letters from EVRAZ’s President,’ the press service says.

Workers from EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ NTMK), EVRAZ Kachkanarsky Ore Mining and Processing Plant (EVRAZ KGOK), EVRAZ West-Siberian Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ ZSMK), and Raspadskaya Coal Company will also coordinate safety drills at the local schools the company supports. The drills will be dedicated to staying safe in the street, at home, and at work. Also, trivia championships with a focus on job safety and industrial safety will be held for the young miners and metallurgical workers in Nizhniy Tagil.

Safety leaflets and calendars will get distributed at the plant at the beginning of Safety Week. EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK employees and local police officers will also coordinate road safety drills both in the streets and on the site. Compliant drivers will receive some presents.

Additionally, April 16 is a no-smoking day in the holding’s Ural division: local employees can exchange their cigarettes for a packet of juice, which is expected to act as a stimulus to give up smoking. EVRAZ KGOK will offer HIV tests free of charge, while the company’s drivers will all attend a safe driving workshop: qualified coaches will talk about acting in and avoiding an emergency.

Children of EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK employees, as well as children from the foster homes and orphanages the company supports, will take part in My Safety art contest. Their works will get exhibited in May, alongside the awarding ceremony for the contest winners. Finally, a special movie on children’s safety will get made locally.

EVRAZ Holding’s Ural division directed more than RUB 900 million to safety measures in 2018.
