Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant Sets Up Buffer Zone

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 3, 2019. ChelPipe Group’s Pervouralsk New Plant (PNTZ) set up a special sanitary protection zone around the site. The size of the zone (i.e. how far the plant’s environmental impact can be felt) got determined by the Federal Supervision Agency for Customer Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor). The zone position data have been entered into the Unified State Register of Immovable Property, the Group’s press service reports.

The company spent RUB 35 million on the project to determine the zone limits. Experts from the Rospotrebnadzor-certified lab took multiple air samples, gauged noise and vibration levels, and ran tests around the periphery of the industrial site in different seasons and weather conditions. All this made it possible to determine the outline of the sanitary protection zone with very high precision and in compliance with the sanitary and epidemiological requirements. The plant’s industrial facilities are all 20 m to 500 m away from the border of the zone.

PNTZ takes it upon itself to run annual air tests and control its physical impact on the houses and apartment buildings next to the zone every year as well.

‘Environmental programs and growing greener are both very high on ChelPipe Group’s list of priorities. The sanitary protection zones are part of the company’s environmental protection program. The fact that we have determined our actual impact zones will allow the company to work on long-term modernization and construction plans, whereas the towns where our plants are located can plan their urban growth safely as well,’ says ChelPipe Group’s Director-General Boris Kovalenkov.
