UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 15, 2019. Oleg Popkov got appointed the Director of the Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development (UBRD) Yekaterinburg division, the bank’s press service reports.
‘A division is now a new structural unit at the UBRD. All of the parts of Russia where the bank operates have been divided into nine different divisions, the key change being that the company now switches from a centralized management system (with every branch reporting directly to the headquarters) to a local management one (based on the specific size, type, and location of the business),’ the press service says.
The bank’s Yekaterinburg division comprises Yekaterinburg, Sredneuralsk, Berezovsky, and Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Yekaterinburg was decided upon as the division’s core location because it is this city that is seen as having the greatest development potential and the best socioeconomic growth prospects. There are more than 1.7 million people living here and more than 115,000 different businesses operating in the area. The UBRD currently has 215,000 active private customers and 18,000 business customers within this division.
The newly appointed director will mainly have to focus on ensuring more intensive customer interaction through a boost in their customer service satisfaction. Oleg Popkov will be in charge of creating the conditions that make it possible to implement the same business processes at every branch and office at the same time; he’ll also be responsible for the division’s further development based on the strategy adopted for this particular area.
‘As for the first steps I intend to take as the new director, my plan is to look closely into all the current processes and algorithms to identify the weaknesses and turn them into growth points. Besides, I am to deal with a number of infrastructure issues in order to unify every aspect of our performance throughout the division and to create a strong team,’ Popkov said.
Popkov graduated from Ural State Technical University with a degree in Industrial Produce Marketing in 2008. He joined Taxes of Russia Association as an auditor in 2003 and was then employed as a risk manager and (since 2010) as a member of the Small & Medium Enterprises Department. Popkov also worked for VUZ-Bank for twelve years; during his last year with the bank, he was VUZ-Bank Vice Chair of the Board and SME Director.
