Sverdlovsk Region: Locals File Appeal Claims Against Insurers 35% More Often

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 31, 2019. The number of appeal claims placed by Sverdlovsk Region’s locals against insurance companies rose by 35% in 2018 compared with the year 2017, Sverdlovsk Region Court’s press service reports.

‘The number of suits to do with personal and property insurance was noticeably on the increase: 1,235 cases got processed in 2017 and as many as 1,670 in 2018 (+35%),’ the press service says.

Sverdlovsk Region Court looked into 19,923 civil lawsuits within the appeals procedures last year.

The number of lawsuits to do with loan and housing disagreements also went up by 8% and 9%, respectively. The number of appeals claims to do with moral damage, damage to property, and inheritance claims rose, on average, by 10% 12%, and 13%, respectively.

At the same time, the number of consumer rights-related claims dropped by 19%, that of land-related ones by 6%, and that of family feuds by 3%. The number of appeals claims related to labor disputes also declined by 21%.
