MegaFon Launches Freight Tracking Options

24 January 2019 (09:33)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 24, 2019. MegaFon Ural now offers its business customers a range of online freight-tracking options, including temperature control and notifications in case a package gets dropped or opened. MegaFon is the first telecommunication service provider to offer local companies its Freight Control package, the company’s press service reports.

The freight-tracking options are a good solution for international freight forwarding as well as for domestic shipments, including multimodal forwarding schemes.

A special-purpose, autonomous GPS/GLONASS/LBS tracker inside the cargo packaging helps determine an item’s exact location or deviation from the designated route. The device uses MegaFon network to send tracking data onto the server automatically. This means the customer company’s dispatchers can track the shipments’ location using a web interface/an online map.

‘We are the first Russian telecom company to offer businesses a turnkey solution to freight monitoring, location, and condition-control problems. What we offer is the monitoring equipment itself, the O&M service that goes with the equipment, and web interface access. The trackers will optimize your logistics, help you determine why a particular shipment might have been delayed, reduce the risks of your cargo getting damaged or stolen, enable you to react to emergencies immediately, and even predict future shipments based on data analysis,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Corporates Development Director Inna Smirnova.

There are two types of IoT trackers on offer: a one-time disposable one and a more complex one suitable for multiple use.

The price comes to RUB 13 a day per one tracking item.
