UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 18, 2019. According to MegaFon’s retail statistics, their Urals-based customers bought a 4G smartphone every three minutes last year. Every one in five smartphones got insured against theft, mechanical damage, and getting wet, which is 33% more than in 2017, the company’s press service reports.

Nine out of ten devices people bought in 2018 support high-speed LTE options. The service grew so popular due to extended product range and keen demand for the fastest Internet connection available.

MegaFon Ural’s customers tended to buy Samsung produce more often than that by other brands: 35% of all the smartphones sold in 2018 are Samsung makes, followed by Vertex (15%), Xiaomi (11%), Apple (10%), and Honor (5%).

Yekaterinburg proved the No.1 market for 4G smartphones last year, with every one in six devices sold there. Surgut, Perm, Chelyabinsk, and Tyumen come next in the Urals rating.

‘We have an incredibly large amount of makes and devices to choose from, so everyone can find their perfect value for money. You can pick one of 190 smartphone makes at our offline outlets and online shops. Most of these support 4G Internet connection and start from as little as RUB 3,990,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Mass Market Business Development Director Alexander Malov.
