28 December 2018 (09:55)

UrBC, Moscow, December 28, 2018. UC RUSAL Chair of the Board of Directors Matthias Warnig has recently resigned, the company reports.

Warnig’s successor is expected to get elected at the next BOD meeting on December 27, 2018.

‘I am confident that I can hand over to my successor a successfully developed company. My mission is completed’, said Mr. Warnig.

‘With the planned de-listing of the company from the OFAC’s [The Office of Foreign Assets Control — Ed.] SDN List, we stand in front of a new strategic development, also in the Board of Directors, therefore now is the optimal point in time for the chairmanship change,’ the press release refers to Matthias Warnig as stating.

Matthias Warnig got appointed Member of the BOD in June 2012 and elected Chairman in October 2012.

Now UC RUSAL and Oleg Deripaska’s other assets got on the Specially Designated Nationals And Blocked Persons List on April 6, 2018. The U.S. authorities later said they would be willing to consider de-listing if Deripaska handed the control over the assets to someone else. The OFAC announced in December that they intended to get Oleg Deripaska’s assets de-listed soon.
