MMK Member Enterprise Proves Socially Responsible Employer of The Year

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, December 21, 2018. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) member enterprise MRK won a prestigious Chelyabinsk Region award for its long-standing corporate social responsibility efforts.

According to MMK’s Information, PR & Advertising Department, the state-run program on improving working conditions and job safety in Chelyabinsk Region in 2017-2020 got adopted last year, which was when the local labor and employment agency set up the Best Socially Responsible Employer of The Year Contest in Chelyabinsk Region. Under the terms of the contest, any organization or company, regardless of their ownership type or what sector of economy there are active in, can sign up for the competition.

MMK MRK competed in Employment for People with Disabilities and proved the absolute leader among all local enterprises.

In 2017, MRK employed 59 people with disabilities (27 people who are hearing impaired and 32 people with other disability types), which comes to 6% of the company’s overall workforce. This is twice the percentage set as the disability quota by Chelyabinsk Region Government.

MRK offered these workers not only jobs but also stable pay and the whole social benefits package.
