UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 31, 2018. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is now among the winners of the All-Russian Competitive Purchases Leader Contest as the Best Business Process Upgrade Project, MMK’s PR Department reports.

‘188 Russian companies active in every sector of the national economy took part in the contest. The winners got selected by a community board of seventy independent experts. This year, MMK presented its project on Supply Chain Transformation With External Experts’ Help. This is the largest-scale upgrades project implemented by the company in the purchasing sector; the project is being worked on in collaboration with A.T. Kearney,’ the Department says.

The supply chain upgrades project took off in April 2017 and is now in its final stages. The work resulted in dramatic changes in MMK’s supply chain organizational structure and business processes: a categorial approach to choosing a supplier is now key; to achieve this, ad hoc categorial teams got set up. The independent experts on the contest’s community board paid a visit to MMK production site for the first time this year to see the innovations at work for themselves.
