EVRAZ NTMK Hosts Experience-Sharing Workshop

7 September 2018 (09:33)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 7, 2018. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) recently hosted an experience-sharing workshop for repair technicians. More than fifty representatives of seventeen different Russian companies (including Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, Novolipetsk Integrated Metallurgical Works, Mechel, Severstal, and Vyksunsky Metallurgical Works) took part in the event, EVRAZ’s press service reports.

This was a two-day workshop that covered a guided tour of five production departments (including Blast Furnace 7), a discussion of equipment repair, and a free exchange of opinions in the course of a round table talk.

NTMK experts talked about their tech maintenance and repair optimization program that reduced the amount of idle times and the number of equipment breakdowns significantly. The plant is, for example, introducing mobile solutions to its tech maintenance routines. Repair teams now use special mobile devices to get updates on the current state of the RFID-fitted equipment. The repair tasks get sent directly to the technicians’ mobile devices; they then fix the problem and enter the updated information into the system. The data then get used to schedule future repairs.

The experience-sharing workshops get coordinated by Chermet Corporation. After the two-day session in Nizhniy Tagil, the repair technicians went on to meet on sites of Revda- and Magnitogorsk-based industrial enterprises. All the resulting insights will be put together in a set of guidelines for the metallurgical industry workers.
