UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 26, 2018. Rosset’s Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems completed upgrading its 500-kilowatt Sibirskaya Power Substation; the substation is part of the power-generating system pertaining to Surgutskaya Power Station 2, Russia’s largest heat and power station. The news was announced by the FGC UES Western Siberia division recently.
FGC UES invested RUR 635m in the project to ensure the more reliable power supply to end users in Yugra and the oil and gas companies operating in the area.
For one, the station’s protection relays and automation devices got upgraded, fourteen 220- to 500-kilowatt switches and fifty-five 220=kilowatt disconnecting devices got replaced, and new control cabinets and telemetering equipment got installed. Additionally, twenty-eight new 220-kilowatt high-frequency chokes were installed at the station as well. All this resulted in greater 220- to 500-kilowatt grid stability.
This 500-kilowatt Sibirskaya Power Substation was launched in 1979. The substation’s overall capacity comes to 1,002 MVA, which is enough to ensure steady power supply to end users in Yugra’s District Nizhnevartovsky and O&G companies such as Nizhnevartovsky Gas Plant.
