UMMC To Pay RUR 420 in Fines Due to Worker’s Death

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 23, 2018. Ural Mining & Metallurgical Company’s Bogoslovsky Plant will have to pay RUR 420,000 in fines after an electrician got killed in their Severo-Peschanskaya Mine, Sverdlovsk Region division of the State Labor Inspectorate’s website states.
The accident occurred on May 4, 2018. The worker fell down from a height and died of injuries.
‘It was determined that poor organization of labor was the main cause of the accident,’ the website says.
The ensuing investigation revealed a number of violations of Article 5.27.1 of the Russian Federation Administrative Offense Code (Violation of State Normative Labor Safety Requirements Set Out in Federal Acts and Other Normative Legal Acts of the Russian Federation). This resulted in an unscheduled inspection on the site.
