19 July 2018 (09:25)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 19, 2018. Yekaterinburg received visitors from every one in three countries of the world this summer; MegaFon’s engineers report that over 170,000 travelers from 103 different countries used their Internet connection, the company press service reports.
Together, the international football fans downloaded more than 4,000 Gb of data via MegaFon, which is enough to watch a four-moth long video online, for example.
Koltsovo Airport, Yekaterinburg Arena, Ploshchad 1905 Underground Station, and the intersection of Malyshev St and Vainer St proved the most popular log-in locations. Visitors from Uruguay, China, and Japan spent the longest amount of time online, while the French, the Italians, and the Egyptians made voice calls more often than other tourists.
It wasn’t only the supporters from the countries whose national teams competed in the World Cup that arrived in Yekaterinburg. The nationals of Cyprus, Angola, Tunisia, Colombia, Malta, Thailand, Luxembourg, Panama, Norway, Poland, and many other states also joined the championship festivities. For two weeks after all the games were over in the city, foreign visitors kept touring Yekaterinburg’s landmarks: Mexican travelers were posting photos on social networks and streaming videos online.
