MMK, AvtoVAZ to Work On New Steels

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 22, 2018. A group of AvtoVAZ delegates, headed by the company president Yves Karakatzanis, paid a visit to Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK). The parties had a chance to talk over their current cooperation projects and potential manufacture of new steels for the car-making industry, MMK press service reports.

This is the first time Yves Karakatzanis, who got appointed head of Russia’s largest carmaker in early June, has visited the plant. AvtoVAZ is one of MMK’s key partners, with more than 293,000,000 kg of metal goods supplied to the former in 2017 (overall amount of metal goods supplied to the Russia-based carmakers: 528,000,000 kg).

Yves Karakatzanis also met MMK Chair of the Board of Directors Viktor Rashnikov to discuss the plant’s further development as the supplier of up-to-date steels that the automobile industry needs and working with AvtoVAZ’s engineers to master new automobile steels.
