UrBC, Magnitogorsk, May 28, 2018. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won the prestigious international Clean Energy Ministerial Award 2018 for its outstanding energy management achievements this year, MMK Information, PR & Adversing Department reports.
‘The globally renowned CEM Forum was set up in order to promote clean energy programs and initiatives. An independent judges’ panel comprising international experts selected three organizations from around the world to be distinguished with this great award for their energy management efforts. The awarding ceremony and CEM’s annual meeting took place in Copenhagen on May 24, 2018,’ the Department says.
‘MMK has always focused heavily on improving its energy efficiency. In 2016, the plant adopted a special energy policy that is now being implemented in accordance with the company’s strategic goal of cutting down on prime costs through decreased energy spending. The steps that are taken as part of that policy are meant to improve management efficiency, increase the employees’ motivation and involvement, and introduce the most up-to-date technologies to the production cycle. MMK is honored to receive this leading international energy management award, which acknowledges the company’s dedication to the world’s best practices in the field (including the international standard ISO 50001),’ says MMK Director-General Pavel Shilyayev.
