UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 11, 2017. EVRAZ Holding coordinated its usual Best Young Worker Contest this year, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Relations Center reports.

‘This year, the contestants competed at EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) in nine different job categories: blast furnace keeper, furnace helper, mill roller, crane operator, maintenance technician, instrumentation and automated control systems technician, assistant locomotive operator, turner, and driver. The theoretical part of the contest included a number of questions relating to people’s respective jobs and to economics and job safety. The practical part was dealt with right at NTMK production departments. For one, furnace helpers had to identify different kinds of ferrous alloys from the way these alloys looked, turners had to make hollow bars, and crane operators had to place a wheel onto a stand at the very first attempt,’ the Center says.

EVRAZ Kachkanar Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (KGOK) team came third in the overall team rating, EVRAZ West Siberian Metallurgical Works (ZSMK) got silver, and EVRAZ NTMK team proved No.1, as its workers won seven first prizes all in all.

EVRAZ ZSMK’s blast furnace keeper Alexei Suntsov, EVRAZ NTMK’s furnace helper Maxim Salnikov, EVRAZ NTMK’s mill roller Daniil Kharlassov, EVRAZ NTMK’s crane operator Anatoly Meldyashov, maintenance technician Artem Azarenkov, EVRAZ NTMK’s instrumentation and automated control systems technician Sergey Danilov, EVRAZ NTMK’s assistant locomotive operator Andrei Kholkin, EVRAZ NTMK’s turner Alexander Abdulkin, and EVRAZ KGOK’s driver Viktor Akhmetzyanov won the first prizes in their respective categories.

The awarding ceremony took place at EVRAZ NTMK Culture & Arts Palace. The winners got certificates, souvenirs, and money prizes.
