UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 5, 2017. Two-thirds of mobile Internet connection users search for info on goods they would like to buy using their smartphones, the telecommunications provider MegaFon’s press service says.

MegaFon Ural’s subscribers mostly use their smartphones to look up information on clothes, footwear, and household appliances. Online cosmetics shops are particularly popular in Tyumen and Kurgan, furniture stores have the greatest number of online customers in Yekaterinburg and Syktyvkar, while the most popular items bought online in Chelyabinsk/Izhevsk and Surgut are sports goods and fishing tackle, respectively. The online demand for children’s goods is at its highest in Perm, that for automobiles and spare parts is at its highest in Kirov.

’20% of all goods get bought online these days, and this percentage keeps rising. Smartphones and a speedy Internet connection make it possible to buy what you need wherever you are. People based in Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kirov Oblasts and in Yugra tend to use their smartphones for online shopping more often than others,’ says MegaFon Ural Mass Market Development Director Sergey Alferov.

According to MegaFon, men are almost as interested in online shopping as women are and make up 47% of virtual shoppers. They mostly look for car parts, while women tend to shop for pharmaceutical produce most often.
